Keen to kickstart your career as a software engineer but not sure where to start? By joining the 6 week Tech Talent Accelerator programme, you’ll spend 6 weeks building core IT and coding skills, and afterwards you’ll be connected with tech apprenticeship providers, as well as gain guaranteed entry to Multiverse’s Talent Matching Pool for software engineering apprentices. You don’t need any existing tech qualifications or experience to apply – we just care that you’re passionate about tech.

What we’re offering…

  • Free training You’ll learn all you need to be successful – from coding skills to the employment essentials that will help you achieve your potential
  • Guaranteed connection with apprenticeship providers Following the programme, you’ll be connected with apprenticeship providers, as well as being fast tracked to the Multiverse Talent Matching Pool, with personal support from the Generation team to match you with an employer
  • Fully remote delivery and we’ll give you a laptop and internet if you don’t have these at home.
  • Continue to receive your benefits if you’re receiving Universal Credit or other benefits, we’ll work with you to make sure you receive these during the programme.

The Tech Talent Accelerator programme is run in partnership with Multiverse, and funded by BlackRock.

The programme accepts applications on a rolling basis. To be considered, complete your application until ‘Under Review 1’ for us to mark it.

A few simple steps

  1. 15 minutes 1

    Fill out some details

    Start your application by filling out some quick details about yourself
    You will also upload some documents to confirm your eligibility.

  2. 1-2 hours 2

    Complete some online tasks

    In your own time, complete some tasks related to the programme. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have any existing knowledge or experience to be able to complete them.

  3. 1/2 day 3

    Taster session

    If you're successful in the online tasks, we'll invite you to one of our taster sessions to understand more about the programme and the role, and to learn how to be successful in your application

  4. 2-3 hours 4

    Try some coding

    We'll ask you to complete the HTML and HTML5 course in the Responsive Web Design section of Free Code Camp. If you enjoy this, the course will be a good fit for you. You'll then complete a final task to test your learnings from this.

    We use this time to get to know you better as a person, to learn about your motivation to do the programme and the role, and to understand how we could best support you to complete it successfully. This all takes place online, so you can choose a time that suits you for a video interview on HireVue, a chat with a mentor and a short group task.

  • Aged 18-24
  • 2 GCSEs at C-A* (4-9) or equivalent, including English and Maths
  • You are not a University graduate
  • You are not currently employed, in education or training
  • You are currently living in a London borough
  • You have the legal right to work & live in the UK (and have been a resident in the EEA for at least 3 years)
  • You have already started exploring your interest in computing, technology and coding
  • Available for 6 weeks full time and ready to start an 18 month apprenticeship right after the course

What is a Software Engineer?

Have you ever wanted to develop a game, build a website or create a new platform? Becoming a software engineer will allows you to do all of those things. Every business needs software to function and software requires people who can build it.
As a software engineer, you'll be writing code to develop new features, fixing bugs, reviewing existing code, designing products, improving user experience, and helping to make technical decisions. With an apprenticeship in software engineering you will be able to train and qualify on the job, and have the chance to build a career for which demand is only growing.

Technical Skills

We'll help you learn the technical skills with lots of hands-on, interactive sessions. By the end of the course, you will:

  • Understand the structure and attributes of web applications using HTML, CSS & Javascript
  • Apply the fundamentals of computer science and algorithms
  • Learn about and use Git for source control
  • Master problem solving techniques using Agile and SCRUM methodology (project management tools for tech teams)
  • How to thoroughly test new features & developments on web applications

In every job, there are key skills that will help you be successful. We'll help you learn how to:

    If you gain a place, you’ll meet with your mentor before the programme starts to make sure you have all the support you need to achieve your potential.

    The programme begins! You’ll learn the behaviours, mindsets and technical skills to succeed in the end role.

    Set up your Multiverse digital profile

    As training progresses, you'll set up your Multiverse digital profile, ready to match with employers.

    Graduate and celebrate your achievement at the End of Class Celebration

    Join the Talent Matching Pool

    When you finish the programme, you'll automatically join the Multiverse Talent Matching Pool (normally very competitive to enter).

    Interview with employers

    The Multiverse Talent Team will recommend you to employers for interview, and we'll provide 1-1 interview support to make sure you can shine at interview. We will also connect you with other apprenticeship providers hiring L4 Software Engineering Apprentices.

    Start in your role

    We'll continue to provide support for at least 6 months, and you'll also become part of the powerful Multiverse and Generation alumni networks, which will help you further progress your career.
